Steps
Goal: Adjust brightness so the display is comfortable to view.
- Check whether the display is too bright, too dim, or not responding to controls.
- Good: You have confirmed the symptom. Proceed to Adjust brightness.
- Bad: Unclear—press brightness keys and check Settings > Device > Displays.
Adjust brightness
Goal: Set brightness to a comfortable level.
- Press the brightness-up or brightness-down key. Or Settings > Device > Displays > Brightness. Adjust the slider.
- Good: Brightness at a comfortable level. Proceed to Turn on auto-brightness if you want it to adjust to ambient light.
- Bad: Brightness will not respond—restart and try again, or call support.
Turn on auto-brightness
Goal: Let the screen adjust automatically to ambient light.
- Settings > Device > Displays. Turn on automatic brightness. The automatic brightness feature adjusts based on ambient light.
- Good: Auto on. The screen should dim in dark rooms and brighten in bright light.
- Bad: If brightness is still wrong, check power-saving mode. If brightness will not respond, call support.
When to get help

- Brightness will not respond to the keys or Settings.
- The screen stays at maximum or minimum brightness after a restart.
- You have tried automatic brightness and the display is still wrong.
