Check rotation lock
Goal: Allow the display to rotate when you turn the device.
- Click the status area. Look for the rotation lock icon in Quick Settings. Turn it off.
- On convertibles, rotate the Chromebook and check if the display follows. The accelerometer detects orientation.
- Good: Rotation lock is off and the display rotates when you turn the device.
- Bad: Still stuck—restart the Chromebook.
Restart and Powerwash
Goal: Reset stuck orientation state.
- Restart the Chromebook. Recheck Settings > Device > Displays.
- If orientation keeps reverting or will not change, Powerwash. Back up data first. Settings > Advanced > Reset settings > Powerwash.

- Bad: Still wrong—call support. The accelerometer or display hardware may need repair.
