Steps

Wake and brightness
Goal: Wake from sleep and raise brightness.
- Press a key or tap the touchpad. Press the brightness-up key. Drag the brightness slider in the status area.
- Good: Screen shows the desktop or login.
- Bad: Power cycle the Chromebook.
Power cycle
Goal: Clear a stuck power or display state.
- Hold the power button for 10 seconds. Release. Wait 10 seconds, press power once. Or hold Refresh + Power for 10 seconds.
- Good: Chromebook powers on and the screen works.
- Bad: Connect an external display. If it works, the built-in screen may have failed.
