Disable extensions

Goal: Identify the problematic extension.

  • Disable extensions one by one. After each, test if the issue is gone.

  • Bad: If disabling all does not help, the cause may be Chrome OS—call support.

Remove and reinstall

  • Remove the extension. Reinstall from the Chrome Web Store. Clear site data if the issue returns.
  • Good: Extension works after reinstall.
  • Bad: Extension may be incompatible—find an alternative.

Can you open chrome://extensions?

If the Chromebook crashes before you can open it, try Guest mode.

You can change your answer later.

Disable extensions one by one

Turn off each extension. Test after each. When the issue stops, you found the culprit. Remove that extension. Update the rest.

You can change your answer later.

Try Guest mode

Sign out. Click "Browse as Guest". Guest mode has no extensions. If it works, an extension is the cause. Sign back in and disable extensions.

Disable all extensions

Turn off every extension. If the issue persists, the cause may be Chrome OS or another app. Restart. If still broken, call support.

Issue resolved

Remove the bad extension. Update the rest. Restart if needed.
