Steps
Goal: Rule out software and debris, then isolate hardware failure.
- Restart the Chromebook.
- Good: Keyboard works after restart.
- Bad: Check Settings and clean under keys.
Restart
Goal: Clear keyboard driver glitches.
- Click the clock, Power, Restart. Test the keyboard after restart.
- Good: Keyboard responds.
- Bad: Use the on-screen keyboard (Search + Shift + S) to navigate and clean.
Clean keys
Goal: Remove debris that blocks key presses.
- Turn off the Chromebook. Use compressed air under the keys. Wipe keys with a dry cloth.
- Good: Keys respond. If not, try an external USB keyboard.
- Bad: Call a technician—keyboard may need replacement.

Call a technician if:
- The on-screen keyboard works but the physical keyboard does not.
- Cleaning and Powerwash do not help.
