Steps
Goal: Free space by deleting files, removing apps, and clearing cache.
- Open Storage management. See what is using space.
- Good: Identify the largest categories. Proceed to Delete files and empty Trash.
- Bad: Delete Downloads and empty Trash first.
Delete files and empty Trash
Goal: Remove local files you do not need.
- Delete files in Downloads. Empty the Trash. Move large files to Google Drive or external storage.
- Good: Space freed. If more needed, remove Android apps.
- Bad: Clear browsing data and remove Android apps.
Remove Android apps
Goal: Free space used by Android apps.
- Uninstall Android apps you do not use. Settings, Apps, or right-click app icons.
- Good: Space freed. Clear browsing data if more needed.
- Bad: Remove Linux files or disable Linux if unused.
When to get help
Call a technician if:
- You have freed space but the Chromebook still reports full.
- You need to recover accidentally deleted files.
Verification
- Storage management shows at least 1–2 GB free.
- No “Low storage” warning.
- Files and apps work normally.
