  • Confirm the Chromebook supports tablet mode (convertible/2-in-1).
  • Good: Model supports it. Proceed to Check model.
  • Bad: Use laptop mode; no tablet mode on this model.

Check model

Goal: Ensure the Chromebook is a convertible.

  • Only convertibles with a 360-degree hinge support tablet mode.
  • Good: It is a convertible. Proceed to Fold and restart.
  • Bad: No tablet mode on this model.

Fold and restart

Goal: Trigger the hinge sensor and reset the mode.

  • Fold the screen fully back (360 degrees). Restart the Chromebook. Fold and test again.
  • Good: Tablet mode activates.
  • Bad: Update Chrome OS. If still fails, call support.

  • The model supports tablet mode.
