Steps
Goal: Rule out accidental disable and software, then isolate hardware.
- Press Search + Shift + P to toggle the touchpad. Check Settings, Device, Touchpad.
- Good: Touchpad responds.
- Bad: Restart the Chromebook.

Goal: Re-enable the touchpad if it was disabled.
- Press Search + Shift + P. Or Settings, Device, Touchpad, turn Enable touchpad on.
- Good: Cursor moves and clicks work.
- Bad: Restart and clean.
Restart
Goal: Clear touchpad driver glitches.
- Restart the Chromebook. Clean the touchpad with a dry cloth. Test again.
- Good: Touchpad works.
- Bad: Try an external mouse. If the mouse works, the touchpad may have failed.

- An external mouse works but the touchpad does not.
- Toggle and Powerwash do not help.
