Steps
Goal: Rule out password and network, then isolate account or device issues.
- Confirm the password is correct and WiFi is connected.
- Good: Both correct. Try sign-in.
- Bad: Reset password or connect to WiFi.
Check password and network
Goal: Ensure password and network are correct.
- Type the password carefully (case-sensitive). Connect to WiFi. Chromebooks need internet to sign in.
- Good: Sign-in proceeds.
- Bad: Reset the password at accounts.google.com.
Reset password
Goal: Regain access to the Google account.
- On another device, go to accounts.google.com. Use “Forgot password” to reset. Use the new password on the Chromebook.
- Good: Sign-in works.
- Bad: Check if the account is locked (wait 15–30 minutes).
When to get help
Call a technician if:
- The account works on other devices.
- WiFi is connected.
- Powerwash does not help.

- Chromebook signs in to the Google account.
