Steps
Goal: Rule out adapter and outlet, then isolate battery or hardware failure.
- Confirm the power adapter is connected at both ends and the outlet works.
- Good: Adapter and outlet confirmed. Proceed to Force power cycle.
- Bad: Try a different outlet and charger.
Check adapter and outlet
Goal: Rule out adapter fault and outlet issues.
- Reseat the USB-C cable. Try a different outlet. Try a known-good USB-C charger (45W or higher).
- Good: Charging LED or power-on. If a different charger works, replace the original.
- Bad: Port may be damaged—call a technician.
Force power cycle
Goal: Clear a stuck power state.
- Hold the power button for 10–15 seconds. Release. Wait 10 seconds, press power once. Or hold Refresh + Power for 10 seconds.
- Good: Chromebook powers on.
- Bad: Remove external devices and retry. If still no response, call a technician.
When to get help
Call a technician if:
- A known-good charger and outlet do not work.
- The Chromebook shows no signs of life after a hard reset.
- The USB-C port is damaged.
