Steps
Goal: Allow cookies in the browser and for the site, enable third-party cookies when needed, and rule out extensions.
- Check if cookies are allowed in your browser settings.
- Good: They are allowed. Proceed to Allow cookies for the site.
- Bad: They are blocked—enable cookies and reload.
Check if cookies are allowed
Goal: Ensure the browser allows cookies.
- Chrome: Settings → Privacy and security → Cookies and other site data. Use “Allow all cookies” or “Block third-party cookies” (not “Block all”).
- Firefox: Settings → Privacy & Security → Standard, or Custom with cookies enabled.
- Edge: Settings → Cookies and site permissions. Ensure blocking is off.
- Safari: Preferences → Privacy → uncheck “Block all cookies.”
- Good: Cookies are allowed. Proceed to Allow cookies for the site.
- Bad: Blocked—enable and reload.
Allow cookies for the site
Goal: Give the site permission to use cookies.
- Click the lock or shield icon in the address bar. Open site settings.
- Set Cookies to Allow for this site. Reload.
- Good: The site accepts cookies. Bad: Still blocked—proceed to Enable third-party cookies.
Enable third-party cookies
Goal: Allow third-party cookies when the site needs them.
- Sites with embedded login, payment, or widgets often need third-party cookies.
- Chrome: Settings → Cookies → turn off “Block third-party cookies” or add the site to “Sites that can always use cookies.”
- Firefox: Standard allows third-party. If using Strict, switch to Standard for testing.
- Safari: Preferences → Privacy → uncheck “Prevent cross-site tracking” for testing.
- Good: Third-party allowed and site works. Bad: Still fails—proceed to Disable extensions.
Disable extensions
Goal: Find which extension blocks cookies.
- Open the site in incognito. If it works there, an extension blocks cookies in normal mode.
- Chrome: chrome://extensions. Firefox: about:addons. Disable extensions one by one. Reload the site.
- When the site works, that extension blocks cookies. Whitelist the site or disable the extension for it.
- Good: You found the extension. Whitelist or disable for the site.
- Bad: All disabled and still fails—check tracking prevention or clear cookies.
When to get help
- Cookies are allowed, no extension blocks them, and the site still says “cookies disabled.” The problem may be the site or server. Contact site support with your browser and the site URL.
Verification
- The site remembers you (login persists, preferences save).
- No “cookies disabled” or “please enable cookies” message.
- If an extension was the cause, it is whitelisted or disabled for the site.
