Steps

- Bad: You do not remember the email—try common addresses or check old devices.
Backup path
Goal: Reset using backup email or phone number.
- Choose the verification method you can access. Enter the code Google sends.
- Set a new password and confirm it.
- Good: Password reset. Update recovery options and enable two-step verification.
- Bad: Code not received—check spam, try the Account Recovery form.
Recovery form path
Goal: Recover when you do not have access to backup options.
- Go to support.google.com/accounts/answer/7682439. Answer questions about when you created the account, recent passwords, and other details.
- Wait for Google to review. This can take from minutes to several days.
- Good: Account recovered. Set a new password.
- Bad: Recovery failed—create a new account if needed.
When to get help
If Google cannot verify your identity after multiple attempts, you may not be able to recover the account. Create a new Google account and update important services.
