Check compatibility

Goal: Confirm devices support Sidecar.

  • Mac: 2016 or later. iPad: supports Apple Pencil (Pro, Air 3+, iPad 6+, mini 5+).
  • Good: Compatible. Proceed to Connect with cable if wireless fails.
  • Bad: Device too old—Sidecar not supported.

Connect with cable

Goal: Use a cable when wireless fails.

  • Connect iPad to Mac with USB-C or Lightning cable.
  • Click AirPlay icon → select iPad.
  • Good: Sidecar works.
  • Bad: Update macOS and iPadOS; restart both.
