  • Good: The modem stays connected. Bad: The modem still drops—call your ISP.

  • Good: Power stable, modem cool. Bad: Unstable or hot—fix first.

Connection check

Goal: Confirm line connections.

  • Check coax or phone line at the modem and wall. Loose connections cause drops.
  • Good: Connections tight. Bad: Loose—tighten or try different jack.

When to get help

Call your ISP if:

  • The modem still drops connection after checking power, heat, and connections.
  • They can check signal levels and line quality.
