Fix a robot window cleaner that will not clean
We'll confirm power and battery, rule out wet or dirty glass, check suction pads and spray system—or tell you when to call a pro.
What you'll need
- Dry cloth (for suction pads)
- Pin or soft brush (to clear spray nozzle)
- Manufacturer-approved cleaning solution or plain water (per manual)
- Replacement suction pads or cleaning cloth (if worn)

Steps
Goal: Confirm the symptom, rule out power and glass condition, then isolate the cause—suction pads, spray, or squeegee.
- Place the robot on a clean, dry window and start a cycle.
- Good: The robot does not stick or slips—suction fault. Proceed to Check power and glass.
- Bad: The robot runs but leaves streaks—spray or squeegee fault. Proceed to Suction pads and spray.
- Worse: The robot falls repeatedly—stop, confirm the safety rope is attached, then troubleshoot.
Check power and glass
Goal: Rule out low battery and wet or dirty glass before checking suction pads.
- Confirm the robot is fully charged. Check the charge indicator on the robot or in the app. A low charge reduces suction.
- Confirm the glass is dry. Do not spray the window before placing the robot—excessive moisture reduces suction. Wipe off standing water or condensation. On very dusty windows, run dry mode first.
- Good: Battery charged and glass dry. Proceed to Suction pads and spray.
- Bad: Low battery or wet glass—charge and dry the glass, then retest.
Suction pads and spray
Goal: Check suction pads, spray system, and squeegee.
- Remove the suction pads and wipe them with a dry cloth. Confirm they are fitted evenly and not cracked or hardened. Replace with exact-match parts if worn.
- For wet cleaning, confirm the tank is full with manufacturer-approved solution or water. Locate the spray nozzle and clear debris with a pin or soft brush. Rinse with water.
- Check the squeegee blade and cleaning cloth. Replace if worn or dirty.
- Good: Pads clean, tank full, nozzle clear, squeegee and cloth in good condition. The robot should stick and clean.
- Bad: Robot still does not stick after cleaning pads—call a pro. Pump runs but no spray after cleaning—call a pro.
When to get help
Call an appliance technician if:
- The robot does not stick after cleaning pads and confirming dry glass.
- The suction motor runs but suction remains weak.
- The robot falls repeatedly with the safety rope attached.
- The pump runs but no spray flows after cleaning the nozzle.
- You are not comfortable with repair.
Never use the robot without the safety rope attached.
Verification
- The robot sticks to the glass and moves across the surface without slipping.
- The glass is clean with no streaks or smudges after a cycle.
- The suction pads are clean and fitted flush; the tank is full and the nozzle is clear.
- The safety rope is attached to the robot and to a fixed point before every run.
Escalation ladder
Work from the device outward. Stop when the problem is fixed.
- Confirm symptom Verify whether the robot does not stick, does not move, or runs but leaves streaks.
- Power and glass Check battery level; confirm glass is clean and dry before starting.
- Suction pads Clean and inspect suction pads; replace if worn or cracked.
- Spray and squeegee Check tank, nozzle, squeegee, and cleaning cloth.
- Call a pro Robot does not stick after all checks; suction motor weak; pump runs but no spray.
What to capture if you need help
Before calling support or posting for help, have these ready. It speeds everything up.
- Whether the robot sticks or slips
- Whether the glass was dry before starting
- Suction pad condition
- Tank level and nozzle condition
- Steps already tried
Does the robot not stick, or does it run but leave streaks?
Place the robot on a clean, dry window. If it slips or falls, suction has failed. If it runs but leaves streaks, the spray or squeegee may be blocked.
Does not stick Runs but streaks

Is the battery charged and the glass dry?
Low battery reduces suction. Wet or dirty glass breaks the seal.

Frequently asked questions
- Why would a robot window cleaner not stick to the glass?
- Common causes: wet or dirty glass, worn or dirty suction pads, textured or frosted glass (not compatible), or low battery. The glass must be dry and reasonably clean. Check that suction pads are fitted evenly and replace them if worn or cracked.
- Can I fix a robot window cleaner that will not clean myself?
- Yes. Power, battery, glass condition, suction pad cleaning, and spray nozzle checks are DIY. Replacing worn pads or cleaning the suction motor intake is straightforward. If the suction motor runs but the robot still does not stick, call a pro.
- When should I call a technician for a robot window cleaner that will not clean?
- Call an appliance technician if the robot does not stick after cleaning pads and confirming dry glass, if the suction motor runs but suction is weak, if the robot falls repeatedly, or if you are not comfortable with repair. Never use the robot without the safety rope attached.
