Goal: Confirm the symptom, check TV and source audio description settings, then rule out content and volume.

  • Good: You have confirmed the symptom. Proceed to Check TV settings.

Check TV settings

Goal: Confirm audio description is enabled in the TV menu.

  • Open Settings > Accessibility or Audio. Find Audio Description, Descriptive Video, or SAP.
  • Turn it On. Check the audio track if broadcast uses SAP.
  • Good: Audio description enabled. Proceed to Check source and content.
  • Bad: Still no description—check source device.

Check source and content

Goal: Confirm the source device has audio description on and the content supports it.

  • Enable audio description in the cable box or streaming app menu.
  • Confirm the content has audio description—not all shows include it.
  • Good: Source description on and content has it. Description plays. Done.
  • Bad: Still no description—check volume and power-cycle, or call a technician.

When to get help

Call a TV repair technician if:

  • Audio description does not work on any input or source after checking TV and source settings.
  • The content is known to have audio description but it still does not play.

Verification

  • Audio description plays when enabled in TV and source settings.
