Goal: Adjust brightness so the TV is comfortable to view.

  • Check whether the TV is too bright, too dim, or not responding to controls.
  • Good: You have confirmed the symptom. Proceed to Adjust brightness.
  • Bad: Unclear—use the remote and open Settings > Picture.

Adjust brightness

Goal: Set brightness to a comfortable level.

  • Use the remote or Settings > Picture > Brightness. Adjust the slider. Check picture mode—set to Standard or Movie.
  • Good: Brightness at a comfortable level. Done.
  • Bad: Brightness will not respond—proceed to Picture mode and power-saving.

Picture mode and power-saving

Goal: Rule out picture mode and eco mode limiting brightness.

  • Set picture mode to Standard or Movie. Turn off power-saving, eco mode, or energy saver. Adjust backlight if the TV has it.
  • Good: Brightness responds. Done.
  • Bad: Brightness still stuck—power-cycle the TV; reset picture to factory defaults. If still stuck, call a technician.

When to get help

Call a TV repair technician if:

  • Brightness will not respond to the remote or Settings.
  • The screen stays at maximum or minimum brightness after a power-cycle.
  • You have tried resetting picture settings and the display is still wrong.
