Cable and source

Goal: Rule out HDMI cable and source device as the cause.

Frequently asked questions

Why would a TV show wrong colors?
Color temperature set wrong, tint misadjusted, or picture mode (e.g. Vivid) oversaturates. HDMI cable fault can cause color banding. Check picture settings first.
Can I fix wrong TV color myself?
Yes. Open picture settings and adjust color temperature, tint, and color. Set picture mode to Standard or Movie. Power-cycle if settings do not stick.
When should I call a technician for wrong TV color?
If colors are severely wrong after resetting to factory defaults, the display has a strong tint that cannot be adjusted, or the image has color bands or artifacts—the display hardware may be faulty.
