Steps
Goal: Confirm the symptom, rule out content and cable, then isolate the cause.
- Switch to a different channel or app with static content to rule out content-related flicker.
- Good: You have confirmed the flicker is from the TV or connection. Proceed to Check cable and power-cycle.
- Bad: Unclear—reseat the HDMI cable and power-cycle.
Check cable and power-cycle
Goal: Rule out loose cable and handshake issues.
- Reseat the HDMI cable at both ends—TV and source. Try a different cable. Unplug the TV and the source device from power. Wait 30 seconds. Plug both back in. Turn on the source first, then the TV.
- Good: Cable reseated and power-cycle done. The flicker may stop. Proceed to Picture settings if it continues.
- Bad: Still flickers—try a different HDMI port.
Picture settings
Goal: Rule out motion smoothing and picture mode as the cause.
- Open the TV Settings or Picture menu. Turn off motion smoothing. Set picture mode to Standard or Movie. Reset picture settings to factory defaults if needed.
- Good: Flicker reduced or stopped. Done.
- Bad: Still flickers—confirm the source device is stable; if flicker persists, call a technician.
When to get help
Call a TV repair technician if:

Verification
- The TV displays a stable image with no flicker on static content.
- The HDMI cable is firmly connected at both ends.
- Picture settings are appropriate (motion smoothing off if it caused flicker).
