- Good: You have confirmed the symptom. Proceed to Check input and dock.
- Bad: Switch works in handheld—may be dock or cable.
Check input and dock
Goal: Confirm the correct input is selected and the Switch is seated in the dock.
- Use the TV remote to select the HDMI input for the Switch dock.
- Confirm the Switch is firmly placed in the dock with the screen facing forward.
- Confirm the dock AC adapter is connected.
- Good: Correct input selected and Switch is in dock with power. The home screen appears. Done.
- Bad: Still no picture—proceed to Check cable and power-cycle.
Check cable and power-cycle
Goal: Rule out loose or faulty HDMI cable and handshake issues.
- Reseat the HDMI cable at both ends. Try a different port and cable.
- Power-cycle: remove Switch from dock, unplug dock and TV for 30 seconds, plug back in, place Switch in dock.
- If the Switch is frozen, hold the power button 12 seconds to force shutdown, then turn it back on.
- Good: Cable or power-cycle fixes it. Switch displays. Done.
- Bad: Still does not work—check TV output settings or call a pro.
