Steps
Goal: Confirm power and input, then rule out HDMI chain, CEC, and TV audio output.
- Check the receiver is powered on and the correct input is selected.
- Good: Receiver on and correct input. Proceed to Check power and input.
- Bad: Receiver off or wrong input—fix and test.
Check power and input
Goal: Rule out power and input selection.
- Confirm the receiver has power—LED or display lit. Select the input that matches your source—HDMI 1, HDMI 2, Blu-ray, Game.
- Good: Receiver works. Done.
- Bad: Still does not work—proceed to Check HDMI chain.
Check HDMI chain
Goal: Confirm the HDMI chain is correct.
- Sources (cable, streaming, game) connect to receiver inputs. Receiver output connects to TV. If using HDMI ARC, receiver out goes to TV port labeled ARC.
- Trace each cable. Reseat all HDMI connections at both ends.
- Good: Chain correct and cables snug. Receiver works. Done.
- Bad: Still does not work—proceed to Check CEC and TV output.
Check CEC and TV output
Goal: Confirm HDMI-CEC and TV audio output.
- Enable HDMI-CEC in TV Settings. Enable it in the receiver menu.
- Set TV audio output to HDMI ARC or external speaker—not TV speakers.
- Good: CEC and output correct. Receiver works. Done.
- Bad: Still does not work—proceed to Cables and power-cycle.
Cables and power-cycle
Goal: Reseat cables and reset the handshake.
- Unplug each HDMI cable at both ends. Plug back in firmly. Use High Speed HDMI cables.
- Power-cycle: unplug TV, receiver, and sources for 30 seconds. Plug receiver first, then TV, then sources. Turn on in that order.
- Good: Receiver works. Done.
- Bad: Still does not work—call a technician.

- You have checked power, inputs, HDMI chain, CEC, cables, and power-cycle and the receiver still does not work.

- The receiver plays sound from the selected source.
