Steps
Goal: Confirm the symptom, check input and power, then rule out remote and Wi-Fi issues.
- Confirm the Vizio TV does not show a picture, does not respond to the remote, or will not stream.
- Good: You have confirmed the symptom. Proceed to Check input and power.
- Bad: TV works sometimes—may be remote or Wi-Fi.
Check input and power
Goal: Confirm the correct input is selected and the TV has power.
- Use the TV remote to select the HDMI input for your source, or the SmartCast input for built-in streaming.
- Confirm the TV has power—check the plug and power LED.
- Good: Correct input selected and TV has power. The home screen appears. Done.
- Bad: Still no picture—proceed to Check Wi-Fi and remote.
Check Wi-Fi and remote
Goal: Rule out remote and Wi-Fi issues.
- Replace the batteries in the Vizio remote. Use the Vizio SmartCast mobile app if the remote does not respond.
- Go to Settings > Network and confirm the TV is connected to Wi-Fi.
- Good: Remote works and Wi-Fi is connected. TV streams. Done.
- Bad: Still does not work—proceed to Power-cycle.
Power-cycle
Goal: Reset the TV.
- Unplug the TV from power. Wait 60 seconds. Plug back in.
- Good: Power-cycle fixes it. TV responds. Done.
- Bad: Still does not work—restart from Settings or factory reset.
