Steps
Goal: Rule out permission, disk space, and antivirus, then fix corrupted installers or use compatibility mode.
- Run the installer as Administrator. Check disk space. Disable antivirus temporarily.
- Good: Install completes. You are done.
- Bad: Still fails. Re-download the installer and try compatibility mode.
Run as Administrator
Goal: Give the installer elevated rights.
- Right-click the installer, Run as administrator. If the install needs system access, this may fix it.
- Good: Install proceeds.
- Bad: Check disk space and antivirus.
Disable antivirus
Goal: Rule out antivirus blocking the installer.
- Windows Security, Virus and threat protection, Manage settings—turn off real-time protection. Run the installer. Re-enable when done.
- Good: Install completes—antivirus was blocking.
- Bad: Re-download the installer or use compatibility mode.
When to get help
Call a technician if:
- Installs consistently fail after trying these steps.
- You see cryptic error codes you cannot resolve.
- The PC has other stability issues.
Verification
- The program appears in the Start menu or installed apps.
- The program launches without errors.
