Steps

Goal: Get the scanner scanning again.

  • Confirm scanner appears in Device Manager.
  • Good: Proceed to Restart WIA.
  • Bad: Fix connection and driver.

Check connection and Device Manager

Goal: Confirm scanner is detected.

  • Reseat USB. Check Device Manager > Imaging devices.
  • Good: Scanner listed. Proceed to Restart WIA.
  • Bad: Reinstall driver; try different port.

Restart WIA and reinstall driver

Goal: Fix WIA service and driver.

  • Restart Windows Image Acquisition service. Reinstall driver if needed.
  • Good: Scanner scans. Bad: Install manufacturer software.

When to get help

Contact manufacturer if:

  • Scanner has hardware error.
  • No power or mechanical fault.

Verification

  • Scanner appears in Windows Scan app.
  • Scan completes without error.
  • Image is saved or displayed.
