How to restore a phone from backup
We'll restore your iPhone or Android from iCloud, Google, or a computer backup—and fix common restore issues.
What you'll need
- Wi‑Fi connection (for cloud restore)
- Apple ID or Google account (same as backup)
- Cable and computer (for computer restore, optional)
At a glance
- iPhone: During setup, choose Restore from iCloud Backup or Restore from Mac/PC. Sign in with your Apple ID.
- Android: During setup, choose Restore from cloud or copy data from old device. Sign in with your Google account.
- Confirm the phone is on Wi‑Fi for cloud restore. Computer restore needs a cable and Finder or manufacturer tool.
- Check that the backup exists before resetting—iPhone: Settings, iCloud, iCloud Backup. Android: Settings, Google, Backup.
