Steps
Goal: Confirm the symptom, check source output and cable, then rule out TV settings and content.
- Check whether the picture looks flat or washed out when it should be Dolby Vision.
- Good: You have confirmed the symptom. Proceed to Check source and cable.
- Bad: No picture—see fix-tv-has-no-picture or fix-tv-has-no-signal.
Check source and cable
Goal: Confirm the source outputs Dolby Vision and the cable supports it.
- Open the source device display or video settings. Set output to Dolby Vision, Auto, or Enhanced.
- Use an HDMI cable labeled High Speed or Ultra High Speed. Reseat at both ends.
- Good: Source outputs Dolby Vision and cable supports it. Proceed to Check TV settings.
- Bad: Source not set or cable unknown—fix source and try a known-good cable.
Check TV settings
Goal: Confirm the TV input mode and Dolby Vision settings allow Dolby Vision.
- Open TV Settings > Input. Enable Enhanced or HDMI 2.0 for the HDMI port you use.
- Confirm Dolby Vision is On or Auto in picture settings.
- Good: TV input mode correct. Dolby Vision activates. Done.
- Bad: Still no Dolby Vision—power-cycle to reset HDMI handshake, or call a technician.

- Dolby Vision works on one source but not another with the same cable and settings.
- The TV never shows Dolby Vision with a known Dolby Vision source after all checks.
Verification
- Dolby Vision activates when playing Dolby Vision content—picture has wider brightness and color range.

- The HDMI cable is High Speed or Ultra High Speed and firmly connected.
- The TV input is set to Enhanced or HDMI 2.0 for that port.
