Goal: Rule out wrong input and loose cable.
- Use the TV remote to select the input where the DVD player is connected.
- Confirm the DVD player is on and a disc is inserted label-side up.
- Reseat the HDMI or composite cable at both ends.
- Good: Correct input and cable. Signal appears. Done.
- Bad: Still no signal—proceed to Check region and disc.
Check region and disc
Goal: Rule out region mismatch and damaged disc.
- Check the disc region code matches the player—Region 1 (US), Region 2 (Europe), etc.
- Clean the disc—wipe gently from center to edge. Try a different disc.
- Good: Region matches, disc clean. Playback works. Done.
- Bad: Wrong region—use a matching disc. Scratched disc—replace or repair. No disc plays—call a technician.
