Steps
Goal: Confirm the symptom, check signal and power-cycle, then rule out provider issues.
- Confirm the guide is blank, shows “No data”, or never loads. TV or box shows a channel.
- Good: You have confirmed the symptom. Proceed to Power-cycle box and TV.
- Bad: No picture at all—see fix-tv-has-no-signal.
Power-cycle box and TV
Goal: Reset the box so it can download guide data again.
- Unplug the cable box and TV from power for 60 seconds. Plug the box in first, wait for it to boot fully, then plug in the TV.
- Wait 5–15 minutes for the guide to download. Do not change channels or turn off the box during this time.
- Good: Guide populates. Done.
- Bad: Still blank—proceed to Check signal and input.
Check signal and input
Goal: Rule out weak signal and wrong input.
- Check the box has a solid signal—look in the box menu or on the front panel.
- Confirm the TV is on the correct input for the box (HDMI 1, etc.). The box must be on and tuned to a live channel.
- Good: Signal is good and input is correct. Contact your provider for a guide refresh.
- Bad: Weak signal—check cables and provider outage status.
