Check input and display mode
Goal: Confirm the correct TV input is selected and Windows is outputting to the external display.
- Use the TV remote to select the HDMI or PC input that matches where the cable is plugged in.
- Press Win+P on the PC and select Duplicate or Extend. When Only PC screen is selected, the TV gets no signal.
- Good: Correct input selected and Windows set to Duplicate or Extend. The signal appears. Done.
- Bad: Still no signal—proceed to Check cable and ports.
Check cable and ports
Goal: Rule out loose or faulty cable and bad ports.
- Unplug the HDMI or DisplayPort cable at both ends. DisplayPort has a latch; press the release button if present. Plug it back in firmly until it clicks.
- Try a different port on the PC and on the TV. Try a known-good cable. If the PC has DisplayPort and the TV has HDMI only, use a DisplayPort-to-HDMI adapter.
- Good: Cable reseated or replaced. The signal appears. Done.
- Bad: Still no signal—proceed to Power-cycle.
Power-cycle
Goal: Reset display handshake between TV and PC.
- Unplug the TV and the PC from power. Wait 30 seconds. Plug both back in. Turn on the PC first, then the TV.
- Good: Power-cycle fixes the issue. The signal appears. Done.
- Bad: Still no signal—try a lower resolution in Windows display settings or call a technician.
