Check input and tablet output
Goal: Confirm the correct TV input is selected and the tablet is outputting to the TV.
- Use the TV remote to select the HDMI input that matches where the adapter or cable is plugged in.
- Keep the tablet screen on and not locked. Some tablets mirror only when the screen is active. Check tablet settings for Screen Mirroring, Cast, or HDMI output.
- Good: Correct input selected and tablet outputting. The signal appears. Done.
- Bad: Still no signal—proceed to Check adapter and cable.
Check adapter and cable
Goal: Rule out wrong or faulty adapter and loose connections.
- Confirm you are using a compatible adapter: iPad with Lightning needs Lightning-to-HDMI; iPad or Android with USB-C needs USB-C-to-HDMI. Some adapters are data-only and do not support video.
- Unplug the adapter from the tablet and the HDMI cable from the TV. Plug the adapter firmly into the tablet, then connect the HDMI cable. Try a different HDMI port on the TV.
- Good: Adapter compatible and connections snug. The signal appears. Done.
- Bad: Still no signal—proceed to Power-cycle.
Power-cycle
Goal: Reset display handshake between TV and tablet.
- Unplug the TV and disconnect the tablet from the adapter. Wait 30 seconds. Plug the TV back in. Reconnect the tablet to the adapter and TV. Turn on the tablet first, then the TV.
- Good: Power-cycle fixes the issue. The signal appears. Done.
- Bad: Still no signal—call a technician.
