Steps
Goal: Confirm the symptom, check power and network, then rule out storage and retry.
- Confirm the update stalls, shows an error, or the TV restarts without completing.
- Good: You have confirmed the symptom. Proceed to Check power and network.
- Bad: TV will not turn on after failed update—see fix-tv-will-not-turn-on.
Check power and network
Goal: Rule out power loss and network issues during the update.
- Confirm the TV stays plugged in during the update. Do not unplug or turn off. Check the circuit breaker.
- Open TV Settings > Network. Confirm connected to Wi-Fi or Ethernet. Try Ethernet if the TV has a port.
- Good: Power is stable and network is connected. Proceed to Free storage and retry.
- Bad: Power was lost during update—power-cycle and retry. Network dropped—reconnect and retry.
Free storage and retry
Goal: Free space and retry the update.
- Open TV Settings > Apps or Storage. Remove unused apps if storage is full.
- Unplug the TV for 60 seconds. Plug back in. Let the TV fully boot.
- Go to Settings > Support or System > Software Update. Start the update. Do not interrupt.
- Good: Update completes. Done.
- Bad: Update still fails—check for manual USB update on the manufacturer website, or contact support.

Contact the TV manufacturer support if:
- The update repeatedly fails after all checks.
- You need a manual USB update and are unsure how to do it.
Call a TV repair technician if:
- The TV is stuck in a boot loop or will not turn on after a failed update. The TV may need board-level repair or factory recovery.
